Driver Ticketed After One Killed, Several Injured in Serious Crash

When someone is killed in an auto accident the ramifications are usually far-reaching and long-lasting. Obviously, family members and other loved ones miss the person who has died. However, people who lose a loved one often have to deal with many other expenses and losses as well. When someone causes an accident because of negligent actions then he or she can be held responsible for those expenses, as well as the pain and suffering the victim’s family members experience.

The family of a Chicago woman is in mourning after she was killed in a serious auto accident involving five vehicles in Morris, IL. The 66-year-old woman was driving east on I-80 when the accident occurred. A 7-year-old boy was traveling in the vehicle with the victim at the time of the crash, but he was not injured. Emergency workers were able to reach the woman and transport her to the hospital for treatment, but she later died. According to reports, the accident happened when another vehicle, a Chevy Cruze, which was also traveling east, cut off the vehicle that the victim was driving.

Authorities say that the woman swerved in an attempt to avoid the Cruze but eventually went through the median ditch and slammed into several vehicles heading westbound causing the chain reaction crash. There were several other people involved in the crash and three of them were taken to nearby hospitals. Their conditions were not known at the time of this report. Investigators are still looking into the crash to determine all the details. However, the driver of the Chevy Cruze was ticketed for improper lane usages.

This is obviously a terrible tragedy for this woman and her loved ones. When someone dies in a car accident that could have been prevented it can be very difficult for the victim’s family to overcome their grief. In addition, there are so many other things they have to worry about, like funeral expenses, loss of income as well as loss of companionship and of enjoyment of life. These are all serious and important factors that need to be considered when someone is killed in an accident.
