Meanwhile, according to reports, at least 11 other victims in the crash had non-life threatening injuries and were also taken to area medical centers. Authorities also said that emergency workers had to extract one person from a vehicle.

According to authorities 10 cars were initially involved in the pileup when emergency workers first arrived on the scene, but that the total number of vehicles quickly multiplied due to low visibility on the roads. While authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash or who was at fault, if they later determine that someone was responsible he or she could be facing charges as well as several personal injury lawsuits from the victims.
